The OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights held its 1st Supplementary Human Dimension Meeting of 2021 on 8-9 March at the Hofburg Palace in Vienna, Austria. The political opposition movement Erkin O’zbekiston participated in the meeting online.
“With Shavkat Mirziyoyev’s unconstitutional seizure of power, the Republic of Uzbekistan is rapidly losing its sovereignty, as the influence of Russia and China on the country increased dramatically. Pro-Russian and pro-Chinese staff are lobbied and promoted to top government positions.
Despite all Mirziyoyev’s assurances that Uzbekistan will develop in a democratic way, he has chosen the Soviet, communist path of development albeit in a more abhorrent and perverted form.
Shavkat Mirziyoyev and his regime have deceived the international community. For this purpose they created a huge factory of trolls, sham bloggers, pseudo civil activists and pseudo opposition in Uzbekistan. And through these pseudo activists, Mirziyoyev shapes public opinion both in Uzbekistan and abroad. The authorities are investing heavily in it, and unfortunately, so far, we have been unable to successfully compete with this armada.
In Uzbekistan, targeted repressions against citizens who try to voice their opinions or want to support opponents of the government continue.
The opposition movement Erkin O’zbekiston is calling on the international community, the governments of the USA and UK and their closest allies: We need your full support.
It is very difficult for us to withstand the information war waged against democratic forces.
A communist plague is encroaching on Central Asia including Uzbekistan.
The progressive members of society are leaving the country because they do not see prospects for themselves in Uzbekistan.
We want to be heard. We are sure we will be heard!”. Hasanboy Burhanov – Founder of the political opposition movement Erkin O’zbekiston (Free Uzbekistan)
